Malye Korely – Arkhangelsk


Day 1

Arrival by evening flight from Moscow or Saint-Petersburg.

Meeting at Arkhangelsk airport. Transfer to the tourist holiday village “Malye Karely” (30 km) http://www.karely.ru/
Check-in. Dinner in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

Day 2

9:00 - Breakfast in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

10:00 - Excursion to the museum of wooden architecture “Malye Korely” https://www.korely.ru/

At the entrance to the museum you will be welcomed according to the old Russian tradition with bread and salt.
Malye Korely is the largest open-air museum of wooden architecture in Russia. You will see wooden buildings such as houses, churches, chapels, belfries, barns and windmills collected from different parts of the region, typical of years gone by. Houses built only with axes in the 18th and 19th centuries still stand and receive guests today.

The guide in a traditional dress shows you around, after that you will be invited to take part in traditional Russian games, sports and round dances. After the excursion program you will have some free time to take photographs and have a cup of tea with traditional Russian pies. The duration of the whole program is 2 hours.

Returning back to the tourist holiday village.

13:00 – Lunch in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

Free time in the tourist holiday village.

Options for entertainment (to be paid extra):

Snowmobile tour along the Northern Dvina river.
Duration is 1 hour. Price is 2800 RUB per person.

19:00 – Dinner in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

Witnessing the Aurora Borealis.
The Northern Lights (the Aurora Borealis) can be viewed on any clear night in the open air in the period of high sun’s activity. Seeing them requires a bit of luck as well.

Day 3

9:00 - Breakfast in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

10:00 - Transfer to the city center (25 km).

10:30 - Arkhangelsk City Tour. You will see the city’s historical and cultural monuments, learn about its history and today’s life. You will admire the Northern Dvina Embankment at Pur Navolok Cape – the place where the city was founded in 1584. Stop to see the Peter the Great monument. It commemorates the Tsar's three visits to Arkhangelsk, his efforts to establish the first Russian merchant shipyard there.

Enjoy a visit to the Northern Maritime Museum exhibition featuring Pomors’ ship models, a local lighthouse model, maps, navigational instruments, photos and personal items. You will hear about local seafaring development over one thousand years. http://northernmaritime.ru/

13:00 – Lunch in the restaurant in the city center.

14:00 - Enjoy a visit to the Merchant Yard (Gostiny Dvor), the oldest building of the city, a unique example of 17th-century Russian architecture. It houses a local history museum. Visit to its exhibition featuring artifacts and new installations telling a story of the Arkhangelsk port of the XVI-XVII centuries.

15:45 – Transfer to the city pier.

16:00 – Excursion to an ice-breaker. Duration is 1 hour. You will learn about the history of the domestic ice-breaker fleet and discover the inside configuration of the ship including its decks, captain’s bridge, engine room, cabins and crew's galley.

Transfer to the tourist holiday village.

19:00 – Dinner in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village.

Day 4

9:00 - Breakfast in the restaurant of the tourist holiday village. Transfer to the airport (30 km). Departure to Moscow or Saint-Petersburg.
